opening reception for Cool Art 2004 - On The Road:
Criss Crossing Cultures was held at the Consulate General
of the Czech Republic on Thursday, August 12th 2004. This
dynamic art exhibition ran for several weeks and showcased
select pieces from Theatre Of Hearts/Youth First permanent
Collection, all of which were created by at-risk children
from Los Angeles, ages 7-18. |

ART 2003 – ON THE ROAD:
CRISS CROSSING CULTURES
COOL
ART 2003 - On the Road: Criss Crossing Cultures, the
dynamic art exhibition and fundraiser, was held in the magnificent
galleries at the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles. The
three-month freestanding art exhibition showcased more than 200
pieces of original art created by at-risk youth, ages 7-18, from
Los Angeles, California and Oaxaca, Mexico. An award ceremony
was held at the opening reception and fundraiser on October 9th,
honoring City Councilwoman Jan Perry; Actress/Producer Lisa Gay
Hamilton; New York Times Bestselling Author Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez;
famed Mexican painter/muralist Maestro Raul Anguiano; Los Angeles
County Superintendent Dr. Darline Robles; and Director of Northrop
Grumman Sandra Evers-Manly. In addition, at the closing reception
on December 10th, Maestro Raul Anguiano was presented with a Certificate
of Commendation by Anna Pembedjian, Justice Deputy for Fifth District
Supervisor Michael Antonovich.

COOL ART venues include: the Skirball Cultural Center, Armand
Hammer Museum of Art and Cultural Center, Hans Zimmer’s Studio
in Santa Monica, the Gallery of the Consulate General of Mexico
in Los Angeles.

CRISS CROSSING CULTURES
Sanli, Pastor & Hill adopted Theatre Of Hearts/Youth First as the beneficiary of their Annual Fall Charity Gala held at Fox Studios in Century City on November 4th 2005. The night's theme included a Las Vegas style casino complete with poker, blackjack, and craps tables as well as a silent auction featuring select artwork from TOHYF's COOL ART Youth Art Collection and artwork from TOHYF's professional artist. Students performed in front of the attendees and presented Nevin Sanli, Thomas E. Pastore, and Carl R. Terzian with the Youth First "Community Award".
